Chardonnay (2013) – Trump Winery
I recently discovered vegan friendly wines from a local winery, Trump Winery located in Charlottesville, Virginia. While not all of their wines would be considered vegan-friendly, the vegan ones are fined with bentonite alone.
I purchased one their 2013 Chardonnay bottles with some biases, not expecting much as I have never previously tasted their wines. To my surprise, the 2013 Chardonnay from Trump Winery is a crisp, well-balanced wine with a creamy texture. It has a watery straw yellow hue and a clear presentation. The wine is both aromatic and youthful. This Chardonnay evokes citrus aromas resembling zesty lemon, green apple, honeysuckle, vanilla, melon and grass. This is an off dry wine, with a medium body and crisp acidity. It has moderate flavor resembling buttery and oily textures, with hints of lemon, melon and pear.
I must admit that this wine surprised me, as it was a well-balanced, crisp, creamy wine that can be easily paired with foods such as squash and mushrooms. At the end of the sip, this Chardonnay will leave a smooth finish with hints of vanilla and citrus. Until the next bottle as I sip this one away!
